Researched a topic in Community Health on “How does Dress Affect Patients Perception of Doctors?”
Conclusion: Doctors who are dressed well are regarded with higher esteem
This was presented in the Regional Grand Rounds.

1997
Researched a topic in Paediatrics on “How does Frequency of Administration of Antibiotics Affect Compliance?”
Conclusion: The less frequent the dose the more compliant
This was presented at the quarterly Paediatric Grand Rounds

January 2000
Commenced an observational study on the use of misoprostol for the induction of labour in 3rd trimester pregnancies
Conclusion: Misoprostol is safe and cost effective for use in the 3rd Trimester

October 2002 – March 2003
A cohort study on induction of labour for fetuses with gastrochisis compared to matched controls-abstract.
Conclusion: Labours induced for gastrochisis required fewer Caesarean Sections

January 2004
A cohort study investigating the impact of Implan on to a fertility awareness clinic
Conclusion: There was a 6% reduction in repeat terminations  of pregnancy

January 2005-January 2006
Assisted with the data collection for 2 of the cases for the Confidential Enquiries into Maternal Death.

January 2007-October 2007
Data collection for United Kingdom Obstetric Surveillance Study (UKOSS).
This included Gastochisis, extreme obesity and renal transplant


While at St. Mary’s Hospital I participated in the Treasure trial. This study compared the use of  Oxytocin blocking agent Atociban versus other first line drugs such as nifedipine and indomethacin.

I have also recruited patients into the PAST study that compares the technique of closure of third and fourth degree tears as well as suture material used.
